About Us

Hello and welcome to ROAR Dog Training.

Thank you for your interest!

ROAR Dog Training is a female Australian locally owned, operated, founded and directed business. ROAR Dog Training is not a big Commercial Business or Franchise. ROAR Dog Training methodologies are tailored to your dog and your training goals and are based on a strong foundation of many years of hands-on experience.

My name is Sharni. I have a solid history of owning, rescuing and fostering dogs, as well as being employed in the dog training industry, training many types of breeds of dogs. From straightforward obedience, to rescue rehabilitation, strong prey drives, and working breeds to the very reactive dog, with an array of behavioural problems.

My point of difference is that I understand dog body language and have done so from a very young age. I have learnt a lot and am grateful for the mentors that shared their knowledge and experience with me on my journey. In addition, dogs have also been my best teachers. Whilst not condoned in these times and ages, my very first teacher, was my babysitter. . . a black German Shepherd named Duke. I was privy to learning the untold and uncommunicated, dog language.

The silent language (or the opposite if you have a vocal dog like me!), is full of many signals. This pertains to the ‘Pack’ mentality and the order of things in dogs’ minds. My methodologies and techniques in dog training are based on the foundation of the Pack. The instinctual nature of the dog and their natural behaviour, the leadership that is required to, as per my motto . . . “Become Their Confident Leader”.

As a dog trainer, Reactive, Obedience, Adolescent, Rescue (ROAR) Dog Training knows that a one paw or jaw size approach does not fit all. ROAR Dog Training understands that training a dog is specialised and individual, when you are equipped to listen, the methods can be modified to suit the best outcomes for both dog and owner.

During my life, I have engaged dog trainers as well as attended dog training classes. I identified a huge gap in the dog training industry, with my dogs’ issues not being addressed, as most trainers apply a one size fits all approach. . . which never helped to rectify the behaviour that I engaged the dog trainer for.

Throughout employment in the dog training industry, I have heard endless times, how much people have previously spent with dog trainers and given up because they did not get results for the money they paid.

I completely understand what you are going through and have helped numerous dogs and owners achieve results. ROAR Dog Training tailors and adapts. The packages are a guideline for what is available. You will not be locked into the package you initially choose, as if required, there is flexibility to adapt to your dog training goals.

I will openly state that I am not yet tertiary qualified, I endeavour to enrol and train with the National Dog Trainers Federation (NDTF) in the coming year to achieve an official certification.  In the interim, my ambition will not inhibit the progress you wish to achieve with your dog.

I have been blessed and trained by the best in the business, including previous employment. I am consistently learning, yet also applying the principles I have gathered over the years . . . tried, tested, proven methodologies, that get results. I have owned large breeds almost my entire life and have trained almost all types of breeds on my journey so far.

The hands-on dog trainer experience that I have obtained over the years, cannot be learnt in a classroom, by doing a singular course or from the internet. I have a wealth of experience, knowledge hands-on experience and an authentic passion and energy that enlivens my dog training.

I look forward to the opportunity to work with you and your dog.
